Somewhere between the corner store and the school pickup line, you've probably noticed it: your street doesn't look like it did twenty years ago. Neither does mine. We live next to people who grew up on the other side of the planet, and most days we don't think twice about it. It's just what a place looks like now: mixed, moving, everyone carrying a little bit of somewhere else.
That's roughly where Vexillum Wear comes from. We print flags, real ones, vintage-washed until they look like they've been through a few winters, onto heavyweight cotton, because a flag on a t-shirt is a small way of saying something mattered enough to wear. But you don't have to be from the country on your chest. A Japanese flag looks just as good on someone from Rotterdam as it does on someone from Osaka. A Brazilian flag doesn't need a Brazilian to wear it well. Wear the place you're from, if that's the one you want. Or wear a place you've never set foot in, because you love the colors, the history, or just the shape of the thing. You don't need a passport. You just need a reason, and it doesn't have to be the one we'd guess.
We're not trying to sell you a costume. Every flag comes with its story: how it was designed, what its colors mean, what it's been through. We think wearing a country's colors should come with a little of its history too. That's why every shirt links to a Flag Story, and why we keep adding more.
On the practical side: we're print-to-order, not stockpiled. Each piece is made when you order it, at a production facility near you, one of several we work with around the world, so your shirt doesn't have to cross an ocean to reach you. It also means nothing gets made until someone actually wants it.
